Selection of Cleaning Technology The DDT technology can be utilised to clean fired heaters and auxiliary pipe work, water harness scale from oil and gas pipelines, wax and paraffin deposition in oil pipelines, calcium carbonate and other scales from process plant effluent and supply pipelines. In general, this technology can be utilised to remove unwanted depositions from piping and pipeline systems from 50 mm to 1,220 mm in diameter and from a few meters to hundreds of kilometres in length. Customised Pigg® Design The DDT Pigg® has a patented design. It is the only Pigg® available on the market which has interchangeable appendages. The Crest Engineer specifically designs each Pigg® for each stage of the cleaning operation. By using a multitude of different shapes and hardness (see above image) of cleaning appendages, the Piggs® can be adapted to the particular heater and type of deposit build-up. The engineer is also able to control the height of each appendage allowing more or less water bypass to aid the cleaning operation. Stud Hardness The DDT Pigg® comes with a range of attachments that are specifically selected to suit the circumstances of individual fired heaters. The selection of the stud type and material is made based on the type of deposit and the materials of construction of the tubes. Contaminated Area Only Cleaning of ‘Contaminated area only’, patented bi-directional Pigg® control allows concentration of the cleaning effort in the areas which need it most, preventing wasted time that would be necessary to pass the pig from launcher to launcher.
