Typical Operational Procedure for Mechanical Decoking

The following gives a short summary of the pigging procedure used by Crest utilising DDT Technology.

Set Up – Pumping Units and Equipment

After arrival at site and an appropriate site safety course has been completed by Crest personnel, under customer’s recommendations:

1. The pumping unit(s) shall be sited in a safe and convenient position as discussed on previous site visit, or as directed by customer representative. Different options include the removal of unit(s) from transportation trailer if required if access is a concern. This will require craneage.

2. The pumping unit can now be prepared for use, i.e. unloading of equipment, connection to water supply as discussed with customer.

3. Attach valves and launchers to the inlet and outlet of appropriate pass. Customer support may be required to assist in identification of passes, craneage and mechanical assistance may also be required if access is a concern. This should be discussed in advance.

4. Connection of 3” hard pipe and hoses from pumping unit to launchers. Whip checks will be supplied and hoses secured to restrict movement. Craneage may also be required.

5. Commission chart recorder (2 channel pen recorder indicating pressure on both outlets of pumping unit).

6. Proper communication between operator and ground technicians is established. Use of two way radio may be required, supplied by Crest or by customer if communication with customer is required or does not meet customer’s site recommendations.

7. The pass will now be filled with water and operators will check the system for any leakage.
